After 1,000 Test runs as captain, Rohit Sharma joins Kohli and Dhoni on the elite list

<p>During his tremendous knock against England in the fifth Test match on Thursday, Rohit Sharma became the first player in history to reach 1,000 runs as a captain. On Day 1 in Dharamsala, the Indian captain scored an outstanding fifty runs without losing to give his team a good start.<br />
Following some lackluster performances in the opening two games of the current series, the Indian captain has been in outstanding form lately. In the final Test match in Ranchi, he smashed a vital fifty runs and scored a century in the Rajkot Test.</p>

<p>Following tea in Dharamsala, the Indian openers made a breathtaking start to seize control of the match, bowling out England on 218 in their opening innings. After making 13 runs, Rohit became the sixth player in history to reach four figures in all three formats and reach 1,000 Test runs as a captain.</p>
