Opening Up About Captaincy and the World Cup, Does Rohit Sharma Still Think That Way?

Dinesh Karthik, an Indian cricket player, opened up to Rohit during their lunch break on JioCinema about captaining India and how he handles the “draining” responsibility.

“You sign up for something quite draining, but that is what it is.” When you assume the responsibility, I suppose when the chance came to me to lead the squad, I was thrilled. I’ve participated in the core group decision-making for the last seven or eight years as vice-captain. In an interview with Dinesh Karthik on JioCinema, Rohit Sharma said, “Obviously, it’s a huge honor to be captaining your country. I led in Virat’s absence a few times when he wasn’t there.”

“You know, it’s a great honor to be alongside them because I have seen many greats who have captained the team stalwarts in their way.” Great privilege,” Rohit added.

Five times as captain, Rohit has led Team India to the Indian Premier League championship: in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. Rohit expressed his desire for the team to perform as a unit rather than as an individual.

“I had a specific change in mind. The statistical aspect of cricket involves players having a great deal of freedom while playing the game. I want to remove it from this team entirely. No one is examining the numbers. Players are merely playing the game without considering their own scores. Ignorance of numbers is rampant. We certainly discuss statistics and all of stuff a lot in India. However, even if I scored five hundreds at the 2019 World Cup, is it really all that impressive? stated Rohit.
